God is always Present

Hey Everyone,
The Halloween Word comes from the Psalms.
There have been times during this law school experience that I have questioned the presence of the Lord. Usually, my doubts arise when I don’t see answers to my prayers. It’s hard for me to keep investing time when I don’t see tangible results. I know that’s flawed thinking – God’s thoughts are higher than ours, after all – but it’s still a struggle for me. Sometimes, I’ll vent at God, wondering where he is. I usually find that once I’m finished acting childish, a calm and sensible response comes.
In Psalm 139, David re-orients our thinking, assuring us that we never have to question God’s presence. In truth, we see through David’s writings that we couldn’t escape God’s presence if we wanted to.
139:7-10 —- “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if i make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.”
Elizabeth Eliot once said that in Christ, God has “banished the principle of distance.” Ephesians says that “you who were once far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.”
May we remember in all our comings and goings that God has banished the principle of distance. He is always present.
