Engage does MOVEMBER

ABOVE: Rick “Stache Money Records” Loesing

Dear wonderful, loving, cancer-hating eNgage members,

As you may know, today is November 1, meaning that it is the beginning of Movember.  For those of you that don’t know what Movember is, it is a month long mustache growing marathon to raise money and awareness for prostate and testicular cancer (aka the Man Cancers).  It is both a fun time and a great cause.  Last year, I raised over $800 for cancer research and my team made nearly $3000.  This year our goal as a team is $5,000 and I really think we can make it, especially if we get a big group from Pepperdine fighting for the cause.  It’s the first day of Movember and the team has over $900 raised. So here is what I need from all of you:
1) Go HERE.
2) Click on the “Join My Team” button
3) Grow a stache and raise some cash!
3a) (If you can’t grow a mustache for some reason, you are nevertheless encouraged to donate to the cause)
That’s it! So easy, so awesome, so cancer-killing.  Whether you can raise or donate $1, $5, $50, or $500,000 dollars, every little bit helps and it all goes to an incredible cause.  I hope all of you can help out, and I look forward to growing staches with all of you.  Also, feel free to forward this to any friends, neighbors, or other family members that might want to join or help out.  We are going to beat the crap out of cancer this year and I want all of you to be a part of it.
I love you all,
Rick

In His Hands

23 If the LORD delights in a man’s way,
he makes his steps firm;

24 though he stumble, he will not fall,
for the LORD upholds him with his hand.

The last few weeks for me have been incredibly stressful.  Between studying for midterms, completing subchecks, and trying to stay afloat, I have grown tired and often pretty grumpy.  There are times when I just think to myself, “Is all of this stress worth it?”  I often juggle with the idea of quitting law school completely.  However, I continue to persevere because I know that God has a plan for me.  While I can never be sure if God “delights” in my way, I hope that he continues to guide me and gives me strength to continue.  No matter how tired, annoyed, or upset life can get me, it always seems as if I am given just enough to keep on going and I know this strength comes from God’s grace.  Especially in these times of stressfulness, it is important that we keep our focus on God and His love, and He will reward us in return.  We may stumble, but we will not fall for the Lord upholds us with His hand.
